The Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police is proud to present

Cst. Anthony Bear of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police "F" Division
&
Cst. Franz Zeidler of the File Hills First Nations Police Service

with the

Valour Award

Cst. Anthony Bear has been a member of the RCMP since 2008.

Cst. Franz Zeidler was a member of the File Hills First Nations Police Service for three years.

On January 13, 2014, they attended a residence on the Star Blanket First Nations to arrest a person for assault.

Both Cst. Bear and Cst. Zeidler were invited into the residence by an occupant and advised that their suspect was asleep in the bedroom downstairs. When Cst. Zeidler approached the bedroom downstairs, he was confronted by the suspect who was pointing a firearm at him. Cst. Zeidler alerted Cst. Bear that the suspect had a firearm pointed at him.

Cst. Bear and Cst. Zeidler also had to deal with the other occupant, the mother of the suspect, who was interfering with their actions of taking the suspect into custody.

With their actions and communication skills, Cst. Zeidler and Cst. Bear were able to disarm the suspect, removing the threat of fatal injuries to themselves and to the other occupant of the residence.

The Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police is proud to recognize Cst. Anthony Bear and Cst. Franz Zeidler for their act of bravery with the “Valour Award”.
